Labor Pain Management Class

Learning to manage pain during labor allows you to have a more positive, calm, and empowered birth experience. In this class, I guide you and your partner or support person to learn different pain-relief techniques and strategies to feel comfortable and in control throughout the process.

Includes

  • Understanding labor pain: Learn the stages of labor (latent, active, transition, and pushing) and how pain presents at each stage.
  • Breathing techniques: Specific breaths for each phase of labor to help you relax and reduce pain perception.
  • Relaxation techniques: Progressive relaxation exercises, visualization, meditation, and mindfulness; using music and aromatherapy to reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Positioning and movement: Different postures and movements that promote comfort and labor progress, including the use of birth balls and cushions.
  • Massage and counterpressure: Techniques your partner or support person can apply, including hot and cold compresses to relieve lower back pain.
  • Personalized birth plan: Developing pain management strategies, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, and effective communication with your medical team.
  • Role of the partner or support person: How to provide physical and emotional support, stay calm, and be an effective ally throughout labor.

Benefits

  • Feel empowered and confident through knowledge and practice of pain management techniques.
  • Reduce fear and anxiety related to labor.
  • Improve your birth experience and satisfaction with the process.
  • Strengthen the bond and communication with your partner or support person.
