The World Health Organization recommends a cesarean rate of 10–15%, while the average in the Americas is nearly 40%. Puerto Rico has one of the highest rates in the world, with over 50% of births by cesarean. In the United States overall, the rate is lower but increasing: after a decline between 2009 and 2019, it rose for three consecutive years, reaching 32.2% of births in 2022. I believe that with education and empowerment, families can achieve better outcomes, fewer interventions, and more confident decisions.
