About the Doula Behind DOULA SERVICES – AT YOUR CERVIX, LLC

I became certified as a birth and postpartum doula in October 2023, and since then I have supported more than 35 births. In May 2024, I earned my certification as a Birth Coach and maternal-infant educator, expanding my impact through education and community support. I have have an advanced training as a Certified Lactation and Infant Feeding Specialist (CLAAS & IYCFS) and in placental medicine.

My Story: The Origin of My Mission

My passion for this work began with my own experiences as a mother. During my first pregnancy in 2021, I was told I had low amniotic fluid at 40 weeks. Although I had not dilated, my doctor recommended immediate induction and warned that it could lead to an emergency cesarean due to potential stress on the baby. As a first-time mother, overwhelmed and frightened, I agreed to the cesarean.

Years later, during my second pregnancy and after moving out of Puerto Rico, a different provider reviewed my medical records and explained that my first cesarean had likely been unnecessary. My baby had never shown signs of distress, and less invasive alternatives—such as hydration, monitoring, or reevaluation—could have been offered. This was the moment I realized how fear and lack of information can shape a woman’s birth experience.

My postpartum journey was equally challenging. A nurse advised me to start pumping because of a supposed poor latch, which led to an oversupply that nearly turned into mastitis—fever, pain, clogged ducts, and unnecessary suffering that could have been avoided with proper guidance.

During my second pregnancy, I chose to go through an induction process by my own decision. In this birth, I had a doula who accompanied and guided me every step of the way. Even so, I faced additional unnecessary interventions — but this time, I was informed and empowered. With her support, I advocated for myself and achieved a healing VBAC, an experience that transformed my understanding of childbirth and the power of informed support.
These experiences solidified my purpose: ensuring that no woman walks into birth uninformed, afraid, or unsupported.

My Approach

I work from a place of respect, informed choice, and non-judgment. My care is grounded in evidence-based information, but also in compassion, active listening, and honoring the unique story of every family. I believe that when a woman feels safe, supported, and truly understood, she taps into a strength that transforms her birth experience.

Who I Support

I specialize in supporting:

  • First-time mothers
  • Latina/Hispanic families
  • Families seeking a VBAC
  • Women with previous traumatic birth experiences
  • Early postpartum and lactation support
  • Families desiring an informed or low-intervention birth

My Human Side

I am a warm, empathetic, patient doula who values connection and trust. I strive to create safe, nurturing spaces where families feel truly heard and supported.

Ongoing Education

I am currently completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with the goal of supporting women emotionally and psychologically through the perinatal period—including those experiencing unplanned pregnancies, anxiety, depression, or complex maternal experiences.
